Judge Peter Bray

Bio Information

Peter Bray is a United States Magistrate Judge in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas. He was appointed in August 2018. Before taking the bench, Judge Bray was a Supervisory Assistant Federal Public Defender, and Chief of the Trial Section for the Federal Public Defender’s Office in the Southern District of Texas. He started with that office in 2004 after working in civil practice from 2000 to 2001 and from 2003 to 2004. Judge Bray clerked for the Honorable Sim Lake in the Southern District of Texas from 2001-2003. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1992, and his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 2000. Judge Bray is an elected member of the American Law Institute.
