Senior U.S. District Judge Nancy Atlas was appointed to the bench in 1995, sitting in Houston, Texas. She has been active in the American Bar Association and its Section of Litigation in various leadership roles and on numerous CLE programs. She co-founded the Atlas Intellectual Property Inn of Court in Houston. Judge Atlas served on the Committee on Judicial Security of the U.S. Judicial Conference from 2005 to 2015, and chaired the Committee from 2010 to 2015.
Before taking the bench, Judge Atlas practiced commercial litigation and mediation in New York and Texas. She was a council member of the State Bar of Texas’ Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, led the creation of Ethical Guidelines for Mediators, served as a Director and Treasurer of the Houston Bar Foundation, and chaired the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Judge Atlas graduated from Tufts University magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and earned her Juris Doctor degree from NYU School of Law. Session 2:30pm - 4:00pm - Can We Be Better?
