Judge Sim Lake

Bio Information

Judge Sim Lake was sworn in as a United States District Judge for the Southern District of Texas in September of 1988.

He graduated with honors from Texas A&M University in 1966 and received his law degree with high honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 1969.

He served as a prosecutor with the 23rd Infantry Division in Viet Nam in 1971.

At the time of his appointment to the federal bench he was a partner with Fulbright & Jaworski in Houston.

He was named Trial Judge of the Year by the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists in 1998 and 2007.

He served as a member of the Committee on Criminal Law of the Judicial Conference of the United States from 1999-2005, and was Chair from 2003-2005. He served as the district judge representative from the Fifth Circuit to the Judicial Conference of the United States from 2008 to 2010. He served on the Judicial Conference Committee on Financial Disclosure from November of 2012 through November of 2015.
