Shaun Clarke

Shaun Clarke, Smyser Kaplan & Veselka
Shaun Clarke is a partner at Smyser, Kaplan & Veselka. In his career he has handled a number of cases that were the subject of intense media interest. In 1994 as an Assistant United States Attorney in New Orleans he was the lead prosecutor in United States v. Carlos Miro. Last year he was lead trial counsel for Deepwater Horizon well site leader Bob Kaluza, who was found Not Guilty of causing the Gulf Oil Spill. In August of this year he obtained a Not Guilty verdict for a federal insider trading defendant, and last month he obtained dismissal of all charges brought by the Travis County District Attorney against 12-term Texas legislator Dawnna Dukes. In 2008 he was co-counsel for former New York Yankee Chuck Knoblauch in the congressional investigation of PED use in baseball. Mr. Clarke graduated from Brown University and Yale Law School and clerked for U.S. District Judge D. Lowell Jensen of the Northern District of California. He was a Deputy City Attorney in an Francisco before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Orleans.
