POLICY OF THE UNITED STATES BANKRUPTCY COURT
FOR THE SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF TEXAS
REGARDING PUBLICATION OF OPINIONS
This policy is adopted to implement the policy of the Judicial Conference of the United States (JCUS-SEP 96, p. 49) for consistency in the dissemination of court opinions and the recommendation of the Judicial Conference Committee on Automation and Technology to the September, 1999, meeting of the judicial conference and the guidelines promulgated by the Administrative Office of U.S. Courts in March, 2000.
Bankruptcy Judges may, in their discretion, designate opinions and orders that will be made available to the public through CourtWeb, an internet resource maintained by the Southern District of New York.
Selection of documents for inclusion on CourtWeb shall be solely within the discretion of the judge who issues the document.
Legal publishers shall be notified that CourtWeb is the method by which opinions of the judges of this district are made available for publication. Publishers should visit CourWeb periodically and download the opinions for publication.
The Clerk shall provide access through the court's own internet site for opinions that a judge wishes to make available to the public but that are not intended for publication. Selection of documents for inclusion on the court's own website shall be solely within the discretion of the judge who issues the document.
The court's own website shall be modified as follows:
The "Bankruptcy Information Page" shall include a link to a page entitled "Selected Judicial Opinions"
The "Selected Judicial Opinions" page shall include the information in the sample attached.
The text of each document shall be available, free of charge, for viewing or download by the public.
The electronic repositories are not intended as research or archival resources, but only to inform the public and to make some documents available for publication. Documents made available electronically may be deleted after 90 days.
Any person who requests copies of opinions for publication shall be provided with the address of the web site, and a copy of this policy.
