Judge Lee H. Rosenthal
Education: B.A., University of Chicago, 1974; J.D., University of Chicago Law School, 1977. Professional: Private practice, Houston, Texas, 1978-1992; Judge, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Texas, 1992-2016; Chief Judge, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Texas, November 2016-present. Judge Rosenthal was appointed by the Chief Justice to serve on, and chair, the Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, then the Standing Committee on the Rules of Practice and Procedure. She is currently the Second Vice-President of the American Law Institute, where she has been an adviser for the Transnational Rules of Civil Procedure Project, the Restatement of Employment Law, the revision to the Model Penal Code on Sexual Assault, and the Restatement on the Conflict of Laws. She served on the Board of Trustees for Rice University and is now a member of the Board of Trustees for the Baylor College of Medicine. She is the 2012 recipient of the Lewis F. Powell Jr. Award for Professionalism and Ethics given by American Inns of Court; and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
