The United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas is having the District's first ever Bench/Bar Conference. It will be on Friday, November 3, 2017, in downtown Houston, next to the federal courthouse. The Conference will bring together the federal trial judges and the federal court civil and criminal practitioners in the Houston and Galveston Divisions. There will be several plenary sessions and separate break out sessions for federal civil and criminal practice. Most important, there will be ample opportunity for good exchanges between the judges and the lawyers. The Conference is for attorneys admitted to practice before the Southern District of Texas or who have a pending application to practice. For now, save the date and be sure you are admitted to practice if you are interested in attending. Further details will be forthcoming in August. The Court will hold a separate Bench/Bar Conference in the Spring of 2018 for the federal trial judges and federal civil and criminal practitioners in the Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Laredo, McAllen and Victoria Divisions.
