Magistrate Judge Calvin Botley has been chosen to receive a Judge Edward R. Finch Law Day Speech Award for 1998 from the American Bar Association.

In May of 1998, Judge Botley presented a speech at the annual Law Day luncheon for the Escambia/Santa Rosa Bar Association in Pensacola, Florida. The Executive Director of the Bar, and the Law Day Committee thought that the speech merited submission to the Public Education Division of the American Bar Association.

In December, the speech was selected to receive the third-place Edward R. Finch Law Day Speech Award for 1998. This award is presented to speeches that expand the public's understanding of the rule of law and appreciation of the positive role law plays in our society. The award will be presented at the ABA Mid-Year Meeting in Los Angeles, California, in February 1999.
