(12-SI) Summer Intern - Laredo

The United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas has an opening for a summer intern.  Summer interns perform a variety of manual and clerical duties as assigned by their supervisor.  

(12-36) Case Manager to United States District Judge Sim Lake- Houston

The United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas is seeking qualified applicants for a position as Case Manager to United States District Judge Sim Lake.  The case manager schedules the hearings and trials; controls the paper-flow of cases; reviews filings for emergencies, conflicts and errors; acts as liaison between judge and counsel; assists in jury selection, impanels juries; works with the jury clerks; works with the judge, secretary, and law clerks; and performs other duties assigned.

(12-35) Case Manager to United States District Judge Gregg Costa - Galveston

The United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas is seeking qualified applicants for a position as Case Manager to United States District Judge Gregg Costa.  The successful candidate will, under the direction of the judicial officer, act as liaison between the judicial officer and the bar; prepare statistical summaries on the status of cases; serve as a primary source of information on scheduling and case processes; attend trials, court sessions and conferences as needed; administer oaths to witnesses, juries and interpreters; assist with the orderly flow of court proceedings including, but not limited to, setting up courtrooms, assuring presence of all necessary participants and managing exhibits; ensure that the record reflects any actions taken by the judge; and perform other duties as assigned.

(12-34) Assistant Systems Manager - Houston

The United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas is seeking qualified applicants for a position as Assistant Systems Manager of its consolidated IT department, which supports approximately 900 employees of Judges’ Chambers, District/Bankruptcy Clerk’s Office, Probation and Pre-Trial Services. 

The successful candidate, reporting directly to the Systems Manager, will aid in the management of the IT Department, which includes systems and network administration, user support, database administration and software development. System/network administrators and user support staff are responsible for maintaining the servers, desktops, courtroom technology and VOIP phone systems district-wide. This group is also responsible for user support, configuration management, problem resolution, and upgrading systems to satisfy future requirement. Database administrators and software development staff are responsible for the support of Washington-supplied applications and the development of user-required custom products; some of these custom products are used by other courts across the country.

(12-24) Certified Realtime Court Reporter - Laredo

The United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Laredo Division, has an opening for an official court reporter.  An applicant for appointment as an official court reporter in the United States District Court shall possess the following minimum qualifications:
• At least four years of prime court reporting experience in the free lance field of service or in other courts or a combination thereof.
• Have qualified by testing for listing on the registry of professional reporters of the National Court Reporters Association, or passed an equivalent qualifying examination.
• Certification as a Realtime Reporter by having completed the Certified Realtime Reporter examination offered by the National Court Reporters Association, or passed an equivalent qualifying examination.
